...Blink-182 announced Tuesday they are going on an "indefinite hiatus," possibly bringing to a close their decade-plus career of catchy but angsty radio hits, goofball videos, stand-up comedy stage banter and millions of albums sold worldwide.
"For over a decade, Blink-182 has toured, recorded and promoted nonstop all while trying to balance relationships with family and friends. To that end, the band has decided to go on an indefinite hiatus to spend some time enjoying the fruits of their labors with loved ones," a statement from the band's management read. "While there is no set plan for the band to begin working together again, no one knows what tomorrow may bring."
...Muscle Shoals Studio in Sheffield Alabama played host to Rock and Roll Royalty over the past 25 years. The Rolling Stones, Bob Dylan, Lynyrd Skynyrd and even Aretha Franklin recorded material there. But some good things end as Muscle Shoals has closed down due to the lack of business.
...Britney Spears and movie bosses are being sued by a scriptwriter.
Christopher Merrill claims he came up for the idea for Spears' debut teen drama Crossroads, reports the Splash news agency.
He claims there are 'shocking similarities' between the movie and his script for 'Dream Alive'.
Mr Merrill has launched a multi-million dollar lawsuit in Los Angeles, California.
...MPL Communications, Inc., one of the largest independent publishing company's in the world, announced today that it will launch a new marketing and licensing initiative that spotlights the solo career of Paul McCartney.
The material encompasses the past 30 years of McCartney's solo career and includes such classics as Jet, No More Lonely Nights, With A Little Luck, and Let 'Em In. The CD features twenty handpicked tracks culled from the hundreds of songs available in Paul's catalog, and will be distributed to key music executives. MPL in New York will be responsible for worldwide licensing and administration.
"The magic of music is something which unites all kinds of people - young, old, artistic and corporate," said McCartney. "In our company, we aim to bring this magic to the world while at the same time maintaining the integrity of the music."
...Guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, a founding member of Korn, has left the band and has rededicated his life to Christianity, according to the group's management.
"Korn has parted ways with guitarist Brian 'Head' Welch, who has chosen Jesus Christ as his savior, and will be dedicating his musical pursuits to that end," a statement from the band reads. "Korn respects Brian's wishes, and hopes he finds the happiness he's searching for."

...Thieves can't seem to get enough of the Osbourne family's jewels.
Just a few months after pop Ozzy struggled with robbers who stole $2 million worth of jewelry from the Osbournes' English estate Jack Osbourne was the victim of a bling sting.
According to a Reuters report, more than $380,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from one of Jack's suitcases on a flight from Los Angeles to London. Among the items taken were two watches that were gifts, which Jack is said to be very upset over losing.
...It's been a long time coming for T. Rex fans, but the group's Ringo Starr-directed 1972 film, 'Born To Boogie,' will make its DVD debut in May via Sanctuary. Not only will it be issued as a double-disc set loaded with previously unseen extras, but a double CD will also be released, with audio recently remastered by T. Rex's longtime producer, Tony Visconti.
The entire project has been overseen by Rolan Bolan, the son of T. Rex's late leader Marc Bolan, who died in a 1977 car accident. "I always wanted to be involved in my dad's career," Bolan tells Billboard.com. "And this reissue gave me that chance. The film is the same as it was in 1972. Everyone agreed to keep it the same, but the 16mm film has been converted and enhanced digitally."
Starr even offered some advice to Bolan during the restoration process: "He made sure to help keep it moving, but he really felt to keep the film in its original state."
Although Rolan was too young to have witnessed T. Rex firsthand, the film offered him some insight into his dad's world. "You really get to see how rock'n'roll was king," he says. "T. Rex might have been called glam, but the truth is they had a large sound that never let down."
...P. Diddy has pissed off PETA with a pack of penguins. According to witnesses, Diddy's party planner placed six penguins on a floating platform in the pool at the opening of Florida's Hotel Victor last Friday night. According to PageSix, some guest started yelling, 'Save the penguins!' Though Diddy was apparently not the brains behind the operation, it isn't the first time the rap mogul has run afoul of PETA. Back in 2001, he topped PETA's annual worst-dressed list after a fur filled Sean John Fashion Show.
Meanwhile, PETA itself has come underfire from the Beastie Boys. The boys claims on their official web site that the animal rights organization wrote an unauthorized letter to KFC on the band's behalf protesting the treatment of chickens.

...U2 frontman and global activist Bono targeted worldwide poverty in his wishes as he was a recipient of the inaugural TED Prize from the Technology, Entertainment, Design conference.
The three winners were given four months to come up with their wishes, with TED agreeing to spend $100,000 on each winner to help make them come true.
Bono wished Thursday night for the creation of ONE, a social movement he hopes will have more than 1 million Americans fighting worldwide poverty. He also wished to tell people of this movement 1 billion times and wants TED to help connect every hospital, health clinic and school in Ethiopia to the Internet.

...Stella McCartney, fashion designer and daughter of Paul McCartney, has given birth to a baby boy in London.
People magazine said McCartney and her husband, Alasdhair Willis, announced the birth of their first child, born early Friday morning.
"Both mother and father are thrilled with the news," the couple's representative told the magazine.
McCartney, 33, married Willis in August 2003. Willis, 34, is a former magazine publisher.
Despite her pregnancy, McCartney managed to put together a new collection, to be unveiled in Paris next week. "Stella worked on and was able to complete the collection before giving birth," People quoted her publicist as saying.
The show will go on, but it wasn't known whether McCartney would be able to attend
...Just days after Paris Hilton's T-Mobile Sidekick was hacked, spreading her topless photographs across the Internet, a sex tape featuring Fred Durst hit the Web along with reports that it was the work of the same hacker
Though the explicit clip features the words "T-Mobile Terrorist" on it, the Limp Bizkit singer said the footage was definitely not stolen from his PDA.
"If you look on Paris' thing, I don't use T-Mobile," Durst said with a laugh on Friday (February 25), referring to the list of Hilton's phone numbers that also leaked and included his contact information. "No, no, [my listing in her Sidekick] is just old, years old. Somebody that was repairing my computer was smart enough to go through anything he could [and found the movie]. What can I say? I'm not proud of it."Everyone, probably everyone in this building, has done something similar to what I did, and nobody cares about it," he added during a break from recording the next Limp Bizkit album in Interscope Records' studio. "But if you're high-profile, or on someone's radar ... then it matters. What happens to me happens to me, and I have to live with it and go on."
Durst said he's been contacted by at least one company seeking his cooperation in selling the video.
Durst said he hopes people learn a lesson from what happened to him and Paris.
"If you wanna know how not secure you are, just take a look around," he said. "Nothing's secure. Nothing's safe. It's just helping us get better, causing awareness for homeland security. ... I don't hate technology, I don't hate hackers, because that's just what comes with it, without those hackers we wouldn't solve the problems we need to solve, especially security."

Just something from over the wire service last week. Apparently, Paul McCartney was busted at Heathrow Airport with a quarter of an ounce of marijuana. Paul and his wife Heather, both of whom were on their way to Sweden, were detained by customs officials. A medium sized bag of pot was found in McCartney's carry on luggage sachel. No word yet, on the status of his arrest. A spokesman indicated that Paul would be out on bail, which is usually the norm in cases like these. According to witnesses, Paul seemed distraught and was overheard uttering, "Damned, the first time I've smoked in months and now this" He was also heard stating to Heather, "Well, luv, they'll never have me back at the Super Bowl, ya know". Mrs. McCartney comforted her husband and wrapped him up in a large shawl, as they awaited further instructions. McCartney is no stranger to the procedure, having been busted numerous times for marijuana possession over the years, dating back to 1973.
I sure hope Macca keeps it together and that this in no way affects his new album and upcoming tour. Let Me Roll It....

...Lindsay Lohan's dad thinks all his legal troubles ? from his divorce to getting arrested ?only helps his daughter. In an interview conducted before his latest DWI arrest (for which he's being held without bail), Michael Lohan told ABC's "Primetime Live" that with his private difficulties becoming a public spectacle, his daughter's profile gets higher and she gets more offers than ever. "Don't they say any publicity is good publicity?" he asked. "I'm not doing anything to hurt my daughter." Lohan also said he's asking for half of the profits Lindsay's mom, Dina, gets for managing their daughter's career: "If you turn the tables and I was the one who was the manager for Lindsay, on paper, would she be entitled to half of what I get? I'm the one that supported them all their life. I'm the one that gave them diamond rings and fur coats and their cars... and every other thing they had. I paid for everything." If those terms aren't met in the divorce, he has another proposal for Lindsay's mom to pay him back ? to star together in a television reality series, "a sort of Lohan version of the Osbournes.
...Tod Salvador, better known as Tripp Eisen of Static-X, was charged on Friday with aggravated sexual assault, child endangerment and kidnapping. Salvador reportedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old New Jersey girl he met over the Internet. Authorities have told the press that Salvador met the girl online and told her that he liked to impersonate Tripp Eisen of Static-X, the girl was reportedly a big fan of the band. They began exchanging emails last October. In January, Salvador reportedly went to New Jersey for a rendezvous with the girl. He allegedly drove the underage girl to a shopping center parking lot, parked the truck he was driving and had sex with her.
Salvador, a Burbank native, is facing similar troubles closer to home. He also was arrested on February 10th by the Orange County Sheriff Department after he was reportedly found sleeping in a parked car with underage girl. Sheriffs charged him with a felony count of committing a lewd act with a child and he was released on $100,000 bail
...Family members of a 74-year-old heart attack victim said Friday that a hospital's focus on accommodating a flu-stricken Michael Jackson contributed to their loved one's death.
The family of Manuela Gomez Ruiz, 74, told ABC's "Good Morning America" that she was relocated to a smaller hospital room so Jackson could have the larger room when he was admitted last week. Ruiz was being treated for a heart attack, the family said, and had two more heart attacks after being moved and died the same day.
Family members said they have hired an attorney and plan to sue the hospital and Jackson

...When the Beatles first put out "Across the Universe" in 1969, it was for a charity album for the World Wildlife Fund. A few weeks ago, a bunch of artists performed the song live at the Grammy's to raise funds for Tsunami Aid. It was quickly available through itunes. The popularity for the song boosted it on to the Billboard Hot 100 chart - the first time in nine years that a Lennon/McCartney song has charted.
" Across the Universe" is Number 22 on the March 5th chart.
...A recording industry trade group on Monday said it has filed another wave of copyright infringement lawsuits against 753 people it suspects of distributing songs over the Internet without permission.
To date, the Recording Industry Association of America has sued over 9,000 people for distributing songs over "peer to peer" networks like eDonkey and Kazaa, in an effort to discourage the online song copying that it believe has cut into CD sales.
The trade group represents big record labels like Warner Music, EMI Group Plc, Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Vivendi Universal's
...The son of Rhythm and Blues Singer Chaka Khan surrendered to police Monday after he learned that prosecutors had charged him with murder in the shooting death of a 17-year-old boy, police said.
Damien Patrick Holland, 25, surrendered with his attorneys at his side, according to a printed LAPD statement. He is being held on $2 million bail.
Prosecutors allege that Holland shot Christopher Baily, of Los Angeles, at a September 2004 party as the two struggled for a gun during a fight. Holland was initially taken into custody, but was released several days later when prosecutors said they didn't have enough evidence to press charges.
Detectives have since located witnesses to the murder, which led to the current charge, the police statement said.
...ContactMusic.com is reporting that Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine was horrified when former Sex Pistol's guitarist Steve Jones demanded sexual favours in return for his performance on the band's cover of "Anarchy In the U.K.".
Jones originally demanded $100 and some "suction" (slang term for ******** ) to play at the recording session for 1988 album "So Far, So Good... So What!"
But Mustaine decided to pay him more money so he could arrange his own pleasures
He says, "I think the best part about that song was the fact that we did have an original, living, breathing, Sex Pistol come in and play on it. He came in and he wanted $100 and some 'suction' and I said, 'Dude, it's gonna cost you more than $100 to get 'suction' out of us!'"So we gave him a phone book and $1,000 and told him to get it himself."
